5 Seriously Injured in Accident on State Road 52

Pasco County, FL (1/27/2020) – Two drivers and three passengers were seriously injured after a head-on collision on Monday night. The crash occurred near the intersection of State Road 52 and McKendree Road at about 8:35 p.m.

Troopers say Jennifer Jayne Knotts, 33, was driving westbound on SR 52 in her Ford Fusion when she failed to follow the curve of the road. She entered the path of Brenda Jean Lloyd, 46, who was driving eastbound and hit her Honda Odyssey.

Knotts and Lloyd were severely injured in the crash and taken to Tampa General Hospital. Three passengers in Lloyd’s SUV, her husband and two children, were also injured.

Florida State Patrol closed SR 52 to investigate the accident, but it has since reopened. Investigators do not believe alcohol was a factor in the crash, but that charges are pending.
