82-Year-Old Pedestrian Killed After Being Hit by a Delivery Van in Venice

Venice, FL (3/13/2020) – An 82-year-old woman died Thursday afternoon when she was hit by a delivery van in downtown Venice. The crash occurred at the intersection of Tampa Avenue and Nokomis Avenue.

According to the Venice Police Department, Sally Boerschel was using the crosswalk on Tampa Avenue when she was struck by a 2019 Ford Transit E250 driven by 32-year-old Corey L. Wyant trying to turn left onto Tampa Avenue.

Emergency services rushed Boerschel to Sarasota Memorial Hospital, where she later died from her injuries.
