23-Year-Old Man Arrested for DUI Manslaughter After Fatal Crash in St. Petersburg

St. Petersburg, FL (1/21/2020) – 23-year-old Arttonyo Lee Jr. was arrested Monday night for DUI manslaughter after causing a fatal accident. The crash occurred at 9:00 p.m. at the intersection of 18th Avenue South and 22nd Street South. St. Petersburg Police say that Lee was speeding down 18th Avenue South when he ran a red light and crashed into 38-year-old Latoya Roundtree. Emergency services rushed Roundtree to Bayfront Health, where she was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. Lee also sustained injuries in the accident. He was arrested at the hospital for vehicular homicide, DUI manslaughter, possession of marijuana, and violation of probation. Police say that Lee showed several signs of impairment. Police Suspect Alcohol Impairment Caused Fatal Pedestrian Crash in Lakeland

Lakeland, FL (1/19/2020) – On Saturday evening, a 56-year-old man died after being hit by a car while crossing the street. The accident happened at 5800 New Tampa Highway in Lakeland. Jeffrey Phillips, 56, was crossing the highway towards the Sunoco gas station when he stepped into the path of a car driving eastbound. The driver, 30-year-old Ashley Farrow, did not see Phillips until he was in front of the car. Farrow immediately stopped and called 911. Emergency services took Phillips to the hospital, where he later died of his injuries. According to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, the area of the accident was very dark and witnesses say Phillips had been drinking for several hours. Driver Runs Red Light, Kills Motorcyclist in Clearwater

Clearwater, FL (1/18/2020) – On Saturday morning, a motorcyclist died after another car ran a red light and struck him. The crash occurred at 5:30 a.m. near the St. Petersburg-Clearwater International Airport. Lucas Scholing, 72, was driving his motorcycle southbound on 49th Street North. When attempting to turn left onto State Road 688, Kathryn Lynne Jackson, 57, ran a red light and struck Scholing in the intersection. Emergency services took Scholing to Bayfront Health in St. Petersburg, where he later died. According to troopers, he was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. Hit-and-Run Crash in St. Petersburg Leaves One Dead, One Injured

The suspect, driving a stolen Mercedes, ran into a Chevy Malibu, seriously injuring both the driver and the passenger. He then abandoned the Mercedes and stole another car to get away. The passenger in the Malibu, 27-year-old Saniya Dixon, died at the hospital from her injuries. The driver of the Malibu is in stable condition. Police are still searching for the suspect. One Dead, Several Injured in Hernando County School Bus Crash

Brooksville, FL (1/16/2020) – On Wednesday morning in Brooksville, a pickup truck crashed into a school bus killing one person and injuring several children. The crash occurred on Bourassa Boulevard at around 8:40 a.m. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the school bus stopped to let pedestrians cross the street before attempting to turn onto Commercial Way. A pickup truck, driven by Michael James Scott, 69, crashed into the back of the school bus, which was carrying children from Winding Waters K-8 in Weeki Wachee. The impact of the crash injured 10 children on the school bus. Scott died at the scene of the accident. Two northbound lanes on Commercial Way were closed while an investigation took place. Pedestrian Struck, In Serious Condition After Accident in Port Charlotte

Driver Involved in Bayshore Boulevard Death Faces Charges of DUI and Vehicular Homicide

Police discovered that Benjamin Douglas Ehas, 31, had a blood alcohol level of 0.234, nearly three times the legal limit in Florida. Ehas claimed he only drank two shots of Fireball Whisky, but a forensics expert at the University of Florida says that it was most likely around 10 drinks. According to the arrest report, Ehas also smoked marijuana at 7:00 a.m. the same day, which can increase impairment. Police Investigating a Fatal Hit-and-Run Crash in New Port Richey

New Port Richey, FL (1/12/2020) – A fatal hit-and-run crash occurred Saturday morning at the intersection of Little Road and Heritage Lakes Boulevard. The crash happened around 1:00 a.m. in the northbound lanes of Little Road. Florida Highway Patrol says the suspect, believed to be driving a 2001 to 2004 white or gray Toyota Tacoma, hit a pedestrian. The driver did not stop and immediately left the scene, continuing north on Little Road. The Florida Highway Patrol shut down the northbound lanes of Little Road while they investigated the crash. The road eventually reopened at about 6:45 a.m. Investigators are still looking for the suspect.
