Dade City, FL (3/25/2020) – A motorcyclist from Dade City died Tuesday night after another driver traveled into the path of his motorcycle. The accident occurred at 7:00 p.m. near the intersection of County Road 41 and Bozeman Road.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, 22-year-old Brook A. Everett was heading north on County Road 41 in his 2015 Nissan Rogue when he passed a pickup truck and re-entered the northbound lane. After re-entering the lane, Everett drove onto the grass shoulder and lost control of his SUV. The vehicle careened across the southbound lane of County Road 41 and into the path of a motorcycle.
Troopers say that John J. Ward, 55, and his 1985 Honda 1200 motorcycle struck the right side of Everett’s vehicle. Ward died at the scene of the accident, while his passenger, 49-year-old Patricia E. Pisa was rushed to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Tampa with critical injuries. Everett and his passengers were not injured in the crash.
The Florida Highway Patrol is still investigating the accident, but charges are pending for Everett due to negligent driving.
