Man Dead after Speeding Crash

Pasco County, FL (11/09/2019) – The Florida Highway Patrol identified the man who died in a speeding collision Saturday night. The crash occurred around 8:20 pm on Little Road at the entrance of the Regency Square shopping center.

Philip Viola, 72, attempted to turn left into the shopping center when David Houston, 31, struck Viola’s Hyundai sedan. FHP reported that Houston lost control of his Toyota sports car as he drove at a high rate of speed. Viola’s vehicle got pushed into a truck. The driver of the vehicle did not sustain any injuries. 

It is unknown how Houston lost control of his vehicle. Houston and his passenger sustained severe injuries, Viola and his passenger also sustained critical injuries. EMTs transported all injured parties to Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point. Viola died of his injuries. 

Charges are pending.
