Motorcyclist Dead in Multi-Vehicle Crash in Sarasota

Sarasota, FL (12/11/2019) – One motorcyclist is dead after a multi-vehicle crash. The collision occurred on I-75 near Fruitville around 7:30 pm on Wednesday.
Troopers stated that the crash involved one semi-truck and five motorcycles. One driver, 56-year-old David Boland, died in the crash. He separated from his bike when he struck the semi-truck. Four other motorcyclists lost control of their bikes after the collision.
Police identified the four other motorcyclists, Rodger Moore, 55, Michael Houck, 40, Donald Kidwell, 51, and David Mashia, 50. EMTs transported them to the hospital under trauma alerts.
Police shut down the roadway until around 3 am Thursday for investigation.
