One Dead Another Severely Injured in Crash on State Road 56

Pasco County, FL (11/26/2019) – Verla M. Martinek, 82, died in a car crash on Tuesday morning. The collision happened at the intersection of State Road 56 and Morris Bridge Road around 9:49 am.

Sue Fox, 56, drove the car with Verla M. Martinek north on State Road 56. Kelsey Ann Koenig, 27, drove a Chevrolet truck south. She attempted to turn left onto Morris Bridge Road. Koenig had a flashing yellow light while Fox and Martinek had a green light. She collided with the 2018 Hyundai after failing to yield.

Martinek died at Advent Health. EMTs transported Fox to the same hospital with severe injuries. Koenig suffered minor injuries but did not go to the hospital. 

Charges are pending. Alcohol is not a suspected factor in the crash.

Our hearts go out to all of those impacted by this tragedy. Car accidents like this one occur far too often in Florida.
