One Dead, Several Injured in Hernando County School Bus Crash

Brooksville, FL (1/16/2020) – On Wednesday morning in Brooksville, a pickup truck crashed into a school bus killing one person and injuring several children. The crash occurred on Bourassa Boulevard at around 8:40 a.m.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the school bus stopped to let pedestrians cross the street before attempting to turn onto Commercial Way. A pickup truck, driven by Michael James Scott, 69, crashed into the back of the school bus, which was carrying children from Winding Waters K-8 in Weeki Wachee. The impact of the crash injured 10 children on the school bus. Scott died at the scene of the accident.
Two northbound lanes on Commercial Way were closed while an investigation took place. The road reopened Wednesday afternoon.
