Suspect in Deadly St. Petersburg Hit-and-Run Arrested in Tennessee

St. Petersburg, FL (2/18/2020) – A man suspected of killing a motorcyclist in St. Petersburg earlier this month was arrested in Tennessee on Tuesday. Keith White Jr., 38, was taken into custody for a crash that killed Brendan Hawkins, 24, on February 8. The accident happened at the intersection of 37th Street and 5th Avenue South at 7:40 p.m.

The St. Petersburg Police Department states that White turned left into the path of Hawkins, who was riding his 2017 Suzuki motorcycle east on 5th Avenue South. Hawkins’ motorcycle clipped the back right bumper of the car, causing it to violently crash. White drove off and Hawkins died at the scene of the accident.

White is currently scheduled to be extradited back to Pinellas County and faces several charges.
