Two Dead, US 19 Crash in Clearwater

Clearwater, FL (12/01/2019) – According to Florida Highway Patrol, two women from Kingston, MA, died in a crash on Sunday. The collision happened on U.S. 19 near Royal Boulevard around 6 pm. 

Diane P. Pires, 84, drove a 2013 Volvo T6 southbound in the left turn lane from Royal Boulevard. John Boussias, 56, drove a 2011 Audi A8 northbound in the inner lane. Troopers stated that Pires turned left into the path of the Audi. Both vehicles rotated. Pires’ Volvo ended up in the grass shoulder on the east side. Boussias’ Audi came to a rest in the middle of the highway. 

The passenger in Pires’ Volvo, Diana Rakauskas, 69, died at the scene. EMTs transported both Pires and Boussias to Mease Countryside Hospital. Pires died of her injuries at the hospital. Boussias suffered minor injuries.
