Two Seriously Injured after Running Red Light and Crashing Into Gulfport Police Officer

Gulfport, FL (11/25/2019) – Two people suffered serious injuries after colliding with a Gulfport Police Cruiser. The collision occurred Monday night. It happened at the intersection of Gulfport Boulevard S and 49th Street S around 11 pm.

Cameron Daynard, 19, ran a red light and collided with Officer Courtney Palazzolo, 28. Paramedics transported Daynard and a passenger, Reyna Williams, 19, to the hospital. They suffered severe injuries. Officer Palazzolo suffered minor injuries.

Police state that Daynard ran the red light from Gulfport Boulevard onto 49th Street. Officer Palazzolo drove southbound and struck the driver’s side of Daynard’s Cadillac. She drove a marked Dodge Charger. The Cadillac spun and hit a traffic signal box.

The Major Accident Investigation Team suspects impairment at the time of the crash. Daynard’s passenger, Williams, did not wear a seatbelt, and it is unclear if Daynard wore one.
