Haines City, FL (3/6/2020) – A 27-year-old Uber driver has been arrested for his role in an accident that killed his passenger earlier this year. The accident occurred on January 8 at the intersection of US 17/92 and Shamrock Driver.

According to the Haines City Police Department, Uber driver Clint Fischer Jr. picked up 30-year-old Estevan Pascual in Orlando to drive him to Uncle Pete Road. While driving on US 17/92, Fischer’s car began drifting off the road and ran into the back of a stationary semi-truck at full speed. Emergency personnel attempted to perform CPR on Pascual, who died at the scene. Fischer was taken to AdventHealth Heart of Florida for moderate facial injuries.

During the investigation, officers found a glass pipe in Fischer’s car that tested positive for methamphetamine. After getting a warrant for a blood test, police took a blood sample from Fischer which showed that he was under the influence of both meth and marijuana at the time of the accident.

Police arrested Fischer at his home on March 5 upon completion of the investigation. He is currently being held on charges of vehicular homicide, DUI manslaughter, possession of meth, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
