Motorcycle accidents, while often tragic, can lead to significant settlements for the victims. This study compiles data from 33 states across the United States to provide insights into the average, median, and highest motorcycle accident settlement amounts by state for 2025. Understanding the trends in settlement amounts is essential for accident victims, as it offers a benchmark when pursuing legal action or negotiating settlements.

Methodology: 

This dataset includes a total of 660 cases sourced from personal injury lawyers around the United States. For each state, we calculated the average settlement, median settlement, and highest settlement.

Alabama

Average settlement: $2,281,412
Median: $950,000

In Alabama, motorcycle accident settlements can vary widely, with the average settlement amount at $2,281,412 and the median at $950,000. The highest motorcycle settlement in the state reached an impressive $25,000,000. This substantial settlement came from a wrongful death case in which the family of a motorist was awarded compensation after their vehicle was struck from behind by a tractor-trailer on the interstate. 

Arizona

Average settlement: $546,424
Median: $300,000

In Arizona, the average settlement for a motorcycle accident is around $546,424, with most cases landing closer to the median amount of $300,000. However, there are instances where settlements can be much higher, such as the highest motorcycle settlement in the state, which reached $3 million. This figure reflects the significant variation in settlement outcomes, depending on the specifics of each case, including factors such as the severity of the injuries, the circumstances of the accident, and the quality of legal representation.

Arkansas

Average settlement: $627,500

The client spent 38 days in the hospital undergoing five surgeries, including a 14-hour procedure to reconstruct his face. The case was settled for $2,250,000.
