We Are Here To Help…Even in Tough Times

Category: COVID-19 |

An update on how Abrahamson & Uiterwyk continues to serve our clients while keeping our staff and community safe during the COVID-19 pandemic. First and foremost, we hope you and your family are safe and well. The recent events have been unprecedented. Despite these challenges, we’ve witnessed numerous acts of compassion, courage, and selflessness. We are inspired by all workers who are taking risks every day to keep our economy running, especially first responders and medical professionals who are risking their lives for others. In fact, we salute everyone who’s making their own sacrifice at home, at work, and with their families. We want to assure you that we take the health and well-being of our community, clients, and our team members very seriously. We continue to monitor the effects of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Last month our firm implemented several components of our plan to help prevent the spread of the virus, while simultaneously upholding our commitment to our clients. The various measures we have implemented include: Communication: All lines of communication will remain open. Our team members are available via phone, email, text and online conferencing to continue to serve our clients. Electronic Documents and Signature: We have a digital document platform that enables us to securely send, sign, and manage documents electronically with our clients via text and email. Prospective Clients: Injured victims in need of representation can continue to contact our firm 24/7. Our firm has the capability to continue to provide free case evaluations with prospective clients. We also have the ability to allow prospective clients to electronically complete the representation agreement and any necessary documents via text and email, which allows us to immediately move forward with our investigation and aggressive representation. Health and Safety of Our Clients and Team Members: In effort to keep our clients and team members healthy and safe, we have minimized the number of team members working in our offices. Fortunately, we have a technology infrastructure that has facilitated the majority of our team members to work remotely and be fully operational from home during this time. We also maintain a small team in office to handle core operations of the firm while following social distance guidelines. If a team or family member is exposed or contracts the virus, we have specific measures in place to prevent the spread of the virus. As a result of our modified office operations, there has been no disruption in our ability to communicate with existing and prospective clients. Our dedicated injury law team has all the tools necessary to remain focused and committed to protecting the rights of injured victims and fighting for the compensation they deserve. On behalf of all of us at Abrahamson & Uiterwyk, if you’re one of the millions who is suffering economic or medical hardship, please know that you’re in our prayers and that you are not alone. During this difficult time, we can be there for each other, as neighbors, as co-workers, as family, and as fellow citizens. Sincerely,Erik AbrahamsonHenk Uiterwyk& the entire Injury Law Team of Abrahamson & Uiterwyk Update: Are you a business owner? The Importance of Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist Coverage When you are involved in an accident caused by someone else’s negligence it can be a stressful and confusing time. In Florida, there’s a good chance that the other driver doesn’t have auto insurance or is underinsured. Also, Florida is the only state in the nation which does not require bodily injury insurance. That is the type of insurance which would compensate an injured victim for their injuries. More than 26% of drivers in Florida don’t have insurance. Florida leads the nation in the highest percentage of uninsured drivers. Many more are not carrying enough insurance. There are ways you can protect yourself if you are involved in an accident caused by an uninsured/underinsured driver. What is Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist Coverage? Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist (UM) coverage is coverage you can purchase with your auto insurance policy that will protect you if you are involved in an accident caused by another driver who either does not have insurance or does not have enough insurance to cover all of the injuries and damage caused by the accident. UM coverage kicks in when the damage and personal injuries caused by the accident exceed the amount of coverage of the negligent driver or if the negligent driver had no coverage. Purchasing UM coverage as part of your auto insurance policy is a wise decision as Florida has the highest rate of uninsured drivers. Why is Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist Coverage Important? Florida is a particularly dangerous state for motorists which is why UM coverage is important. There’s a good chance you will one day be involved in an accident with an uninsured or underinsured driver, and you want to protect yourself. In addition, UM coverage will also protect you if you are involved in a hit and run accident. While leaving the scene of the accident is a crime in Florida, it still frequently happens that someone will cause a serious accident and flee the scene. With no information about the other driver’s insurance, it’s important to have UM coverage to protect yourself. Medical bills that result from personal injuries sustained in a serious accident can be astronomical. While your personal injury protection (PIP) will cover some of these bills, it is unlikely that all of your bills will be covered. To prevent yourself from being bankrupted by a serious car accident, you should purchase UM coverage to help cover these costs. Having UM coverage will provide you with the peace of mind that you are protected if you are ever involved in an accident involving a driver who not only drove negligently but was negligent enough not to have insurance. You should be sure to purchase as much UM insurance as you can afford to ensure that you are adequately covered. Florida’s Insurance Requirements Florida law requires all drivers to carry personal injury protection and property damage coverage on their auto insurance policies. Florida does not require that you purchase UM coverage. However, insurance companies are required to offer it to you when you purchase auto insurance. Check your policy today to make sure that you have sufficient UM coverage to protect you and your family. At Abrahamson & Uiterwyk, we’ve been helping Floridians injured in car accidents for over 30 years. Contact us online or call us at 1-800-538-4878 to set up your free consultation. See Our Case Results It is our honor to help injured Floridians. We represent the injured… not the powerful. We fight for injured drivers, passengers, workers, retirees, and all victims of negligence. We try to get our clients back to work, their wages reimbursed, their medical bills paid, and compensation for their pain and suffering. We are proud of our injury case results. Most of our results are obtained without the necessity of a lawsuit or going to trial. We strive to settle cases promptly and fairly. In the event settlement is not possible, then we are prepared for significant litigation as well. Insurance companies know that about us. I encourage you to visit our website. On our website you will find information about our Case Results. We have recently updated our website with a number of our case results, including settlements and trials against international corporations, national insurance companies, and even the tobacco industry. See Our Case Results We hope everyone enjoys the warmer Florida weather. While we are so fortunate to live in sunny Florida, the roads are very crowded this time of year which results in more car accidents, injuries, and even fatalities. Please exercise caution and stay safe. On behalf of the firm, thank you for taking the time to review our email newsletter. 2018: We Were Honored To Fight For Injured Victims Abrahamson & Uiterwyk is and always has been in the business of helping people. Our expertise is helping people who have been injured in car accidents, slip and falls, or other personal injury type cases. We take pride in that we only represent injured victims, never the insurance companies. Here is a snapshot of how our firm has helped injured victims in 2018: Our firm received nearly 50,000 calls involving injury cases and over 3,000 new case inquiries. We help injured victims sort through the complexities involved in whether they have the right or ability to be compensated. Of those 3,000 new case inquires, we elected to represent over 1,000 new clients. We settled almost 800 injury cases. Almost all of these cases involved us doing battle with big, powerful, national insurance companies (e.g., State Farm, GEICO, Allstate, etc.). Most of our cases we were able to successfully resolve without filing a lawsuit. Certain cases are unresolvable without filing suit and must involve litigation and, sometimes, even trial. We are proud of our success at resolving cases promptly and fairly without litigation. Likewise, we are proud of our success in litigation and in the court room. Because of our dedication, hard work, and perseverance, our firm again is honored to achieve 2019 “Best Law Firms” rating with U.S. News & World Report. This year we achieved a first-tier rating . . . the highest level possible! Our injury law team looks forward to making 2019 another year of helping injured victims. If you are like us, you are ready for the summer heat (and the red tide) to be finally over. We are looking forward to some cooler weather and clean gulf beaches again. If you are like us, you are ready for the summer heat (and the red tide) to be finally over. We are looking forward to some cooler weather and clean gulf beaches again. Fortunately, the Tampa Bay area was not affected by this hurricane season. Sadly, our friends and neighbors in Florida’s Panhandle were not so fortunate. To help support the victims of Hurricane Michael, our firm made donations to The American Red Cross and Habitat for Humanity. These are both great organization focused on providing disaster relief to those affected by Hurricane Michael. Also, we would like to share some brief updates about our law firm: We are honored to receive the U.S. News and World Report Best Law Firm rating for 2018 and, again, for the upcoming 2019. This rating is based upon client feedback and reviews. In addition to our larger offices in Tampa and Clearwater, we have expanded our presence in St. Petersburg and Pasco County to be even more accessible to clients. Both offices are staffed full-time by our team members and have recently been enlarged and remodeled. Our team is proud to announce that Attorney Hendrick “Henk” Uiterwyk received, from the Florida Justice Association, The Jon E. Krupnick Award for his determination and tenacious representation of the client, a victim of a motor scooter accident who sustained a traumatic brain injury resulting in severe brain damage. The Jon E. Krupnick award was established to honor a trial lawyer champion whose efforts on behalf of a particular client reflect relentless commitment, perseverance and fortitude to seek justice and achieve success through all obstacles and legal roadblocks which were encountered. Henk was committed to seeking justice for the client for over eight years which consisted of two trials and six appeals. On behalf of the firm, we wish you and your family a safe, rewarding and enjoyable Fall season.  Erik AbrahamsonHenk Uiterwyk & the entire Injury Law Team of Abrahamson & Uiterwyk
