This accident occurred in Plant City, FL, on June 17, 2024. Our 21-year-old client was traveling southbound on County Line Rd. and was stopped for traffic. There was also a vehicle stopped behind our client when the defendant, who was operating a semi-truck, crashed into the rear of that vehicle, shoving it forward, causing it to impact our client’s car. The defendant was found responsible for the crash and issued a citation for careless driving.
Shortly after the accident, our client went to the emergency room because of neck and lower back pain. She was treated and released, after which point she followed up with a chiropractor. MRI studies were conducted, which showed two herniated discs in the neck as well as one in the lower back. She was subsequently evaluated by an orthopedic specialist who recommended spinal injections to treat the pain. Our client declined the injections and continued her chiropractic treatment.
The trucking company’s insurance company initially offered $65,000.00. We heavily stressed that our client was only 21 and would likely require future care, potentially including surgery, for her injuries. After several rounds of negotiations, we were able to convince the company to pay $135,000.00 to settle the case.
