On July 19, 2024, our client brought her vehicle to a national automotive service chain for brake work. After being told her car was finished, she left the shop, only to feel an immediate shaking and instability. Within minutes, while traveling about 30 mph, her front passenger-side tire completely detached, causing her car to drop onto the pavement. Employees from the service center rushed over, reattached the wheel, and returned the car to the shop.
The incident left our client with severe low back pain and headaches. Imaging revealed a displaced lumbar disc at L4-5. Despite conservative care, her condition progressed, requiring multiple invasive procedures including bilateral lumbar transforaminal epidural steroid injections, plasma disc decompression, and ultimately a transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion in June 2025. She continues to live with lasting pain and limitations.
Our firm built a strong case by gathering complete medical documentation and outlining the connection between the negligent repair work and our client’s spinal injuries. We prepared a comprehensive demand package that detailed her medical history, procedures, and future care needs.
Although the defense initially maintained an unreasonably low evaluation, we pushed the matter forward to mediation and made it clear the significant risks the company faced if a jury were to hear the case. On August 18, 2025, after extended negotiations, the case was resolved for $900,000.
This outstanding result was achieved through careful preparation, aggressive negotiation, and strategic pressure that forced the insurer to recognize the full extent of our client’s injuries and the seriousness of the repair shop’s negligence.
