Tampa, FL (2/5/2020) – Two victims who died in a DUI-related crash near Tampa International Airport late last month have been identified. On January 26, Alexander Jacobson crashed into a ride-share car, killing both the driver and the passenger.

Juan P. Santana was driving his 2009 Ford Fusion north on George J. Bean Parkway with his passenger William D. Holzapfel when Jacobson hit them head-on. The impact caused Jacobson’s Jeep Wrangler to drive over the roof of the Ford Fusion.

Eyewitnesses say that Jacobson stumbled out of the Jeep wearing Gasparilla beads around his neck. One witness stopped to help and communicated with Jacobson through sign language since he is hard of hearing. She said that Jacobson had four to six beers before the accident.

Tampa Police reported that Jacobson smelled of marijuana during questioning. They found three beer bottle caps and a small quantity of marijuana on his person during a search. Jacobson is currently being held at the Orient Road Jail in Hillsborough County and awaiting charges of DUI manslaughter and vehicular homicide.
