Five-Year-Old Dies After Hit-and-Run Crash in Hillsborough County

Hillsborough County, FL (3/1/2020) – A mother and her five-year-old were hit by a car on Saturday night while walking down the street in Hillsborough County. The crash occurred on Rogers Road around 9:30 p.m.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office states that the mother and child were traveling down Rogers Road when a car hit them. The driver never stopped to help the victims and fled from the scene.

The five-year-old was flown to Tampa General Hospital and pronounced dead on arrival. Emergency services also took the mother to the hospital in serious condition, but she is expected to recover.

Officers are currently looking for the driver who hit the mother and child, who is suspected to have a light-colored sedan. If you have any information about the hit-and-run, please call the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office at 813-247-8200.
