Hernando County, FL (2/4/2020) – A crash involving four vehicles left one person dead and several injured Monday afternoon. The accident occurred at about 4:10 p.m. on State Road 50 near Riverland Clay Sink Road.

Florida Highway Patrol states that Jose Moreno, 38, was driving west on State Road 50 in his Chevy Malibu when he lost control and veered into the eastbound lane. He hit a Mack tractor-trailer driven by Oscar Paraza, 38, which then caused the tractor-trailer to cross into the westbound lane.

The semi hit the side of a Toyota Tacoma driven by Eric Easter, 57, and then jack-knifed on the shoulder of the highway. After the semi stopped, a GMC Sierra driven by Garrett Cramer, 24, hit the tractor-trailer.

Emergency services rushed Easter to the hospital, who was pronounced dead on arrival. Moreno and his passengers, Adrian Reyes, 28, and Genesis Reyna, 6, were taken to Lakeland Regional Hospital. Pereza also suffered serious injuries and was taken to Advent Health of Dade City. Cramer suffered minor injuries but did not go to the hospital.

Troopers say the crash is still under investigation. The cause of the crash is unknown at this time.
