Garbage Truck Strikes and Kills Pedestrian in Putnam County

Putnam County, FL (1/23/2020) – A man died Thursday morning after a garbage truck struck him on US 17. The crash occurred at 6:00 a.m. around the intersection of US 17 and Comfort Road.

Eric Edenfield, 32, was walking in the outside travel lane when a garbage truck, traveling southbound on US 17, hit Edenfield from behind. The garbage truck struck Edenfield with the right front bumper. He died at the scene.

The Florida Highway Patrol is still investigating the cause of the crash. So far, there have been no charges filed against the driver of the garbage truck.
