Pedestrian Struck, In Serious Condition After Accident in Port Charlotte

Port Charlotte, FL (1/16/2020) – An SUV struck a pedestrian early Thursday morning in Port Charlotte. The crash occurred around 7:40 a.m. on Edgewater Drive.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the SUV struck the pedestrian while heading eastbound on Edgewater Drive towards Cousley Drive. After hitting the pedestrian, the SUV crashed into a Waste Management van.
Emergency services took the pedestrian, 62-year-old Lawrence Corrigan, to Tampa General Hospital. He is currently in serious condition. The SUV driver, 69-year-old Diane Ashworth, was uninjured in the crash.
The Florida Highway Patrol is still investigating the cause of the accident.
