One Dead, One Injured after Crash in Clearwater

Clearwater, FL (11/11/2019) – One woman is dead, and another is in the hospital after a head-on crash Monday. The accident happened around noon on South Fort Harrison Avenue and Woodlawn Street. 

Maritza Alfandari, 70, drove her SUV north on South Fort Harrison Avenue when she crossed the center line. She crashed into a Dodge Pickup heading south, driven by Sandra Padgett, 58. 

Alfandari died at the scene. EMTs transported Padgett to Bayfront Health-St. Petersburg for emergency medical treatment, she remained in critical condition on Tuesday. 

The cause crash is under investigation. 

Our hearts go out to all of those impacted by this tragedy. Car accidents like this one occur far too often in Florida.
