5 People Injured After Two Cars Crash into a Store in St. Petersburg

St. Petersburg, FL (6/22/2020) – Five people were injured Sunday night when two cars crashed into a store. The accident occurred around 11:00 p.m. at the intersection of 16th Street South and 14th Avenue South.
According to St. Petersburg Police, a gray 2016 Dodge Charger and a silver 2020 Ford Fusion crashed in the intersection and swerved into the porch of a house that serves as a storefront. A 36-year-old man and a 40-year-old man in the Ford Fusion had serious injuries and were transported to the hospital. A 23-year-old woman who was also in the Ford Fusion only suffered minor injuries. Two people in the Dodge Charger, a 17-year-old girl and a 19-year-old woman, also had minor injuries.
Police say that the driver of the Ford Fusion fled the scene on foot after the crash. Investigators are still trying to determine the cause of the crash and are looking for the driver who ran away from the scene.
