Crash in Sun City Center Leaves One Bicyclist Dead

Sun City Center, FL (5/2/2020) – A crash in Sun City Center on Saturday morning left one bicyclist dead. The crash occurred at the intersection of Trinity Lakes Drive and Sun City Center Boulevard.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a 74-year-old man was traveling south on Trinity Lakes Drive on his bicycle when he ignored a red light and entered the intersection at Sun City Center Boulevard. The bicyclist then entered the path of a sedan, which had the right of way. According to investigators, the driver of the sedan had no way of avoiding the collision. The sedan struck the bicyclist, who was ejected and landed in the intersection.
The driver of the sedan immediately stopped and called 911. Emergency responders rushed the 74-year-old man to the hospital, where he later died from his injuries. Police are still investigating the accident, but do not expect any charges to be filed.
