One Dead in Pasco County Crash on U.S. 301

Pasco County, FL (11/15/2019) – The driver of an SUV died after colliding with a semi-truck Friday afternoon. The crash happened on U.S. 301 at the intersection of U.S. 98 around 2:05 pm.
The driver of the SUV, Arnold Lee Koranda, 80, turned left onto U.S. 98 from a gas station. He proceeded down the road where it intersects with U.S. 301. He turned left into the path of an oncoming semi-truck. The truck struck the left side of the SUV.
Mr. Koranda died at the scene from his injuries. The front-seat passenger Suzette Marie Koranda, 65, sustained severe injuries. EMTs transported her to Lakeland Regional Medical Center. Paramedics transported the other passenger, Lucas McMahan, 1, to St. Joseph’s Hospital with minor injuries.
Police stated that alcohol was not a factor in the crash.
